Introduction

The module will enhance knowledge about T.I.M.E. principles, an important clinical concept that provides a systematic approach to wound bed preparation and explains the four main aspects of local wound care. The module describes the main variations of the T.I.M.E. concept and additional components for a more holistic approach.

Learning Objectives

After completing this module, you will be able to:
  • Understand the fundamentals of wound bed preparation, which are represented by the acronym T.I.M.E.
  • Apply the newly gained knowledge regarding T.I.M.E. framework as structured guidance on approaches to assessment and treatment of chronic wounds.
  • Improve knowledge through learning about the importance of principles considering removal of devitalized components of wound bed (T), inflammation and infection control (I), maintain the moist environment (M) and support the edges of the wound (epithelial advancement) (E).
  • Update knowledge of recently developed additions to the T.I.M.E. concept (such as T.I.M.E.S., T.I.M.E.-H, T.I.M.E.R.S., T.I.M.E. CDST).
