Webinar Description:

Wound Assessment 101
This session is designed to cover and review some of the basic principles of wound management as well as some advanced concepts related to the field of wound management. Given the complex clinical and highly regulatory nature surrounding wound management, it is crucial for wound clinicians to adopt standardized language and classification systems to determine and adequately communicate wound related treatment plans. It must be taken into consideration that a wound or a skin ulcer is affected by nearly every bodily system, and therefore proper identification and thorough and accurate assessment is necessary. High quality wound management begins and ends with great recognition, diagnosis, evaluation, and documentation of the wound itself and the patient that it is affecting. This session is designed to cover and review some of the basic principles of wound management as well as some advanced concepts related to the field of wound management. About the Wound Care Education Institute® (WCEI®)

In 2002, experienced nurses and consultants Nancy Morgan and Donna Sardina noticed a disturbing trend in healthcare. Nurses and other healthcare professionals were passionate about wound care, but access to specialized wound education was either non-existent or limited.

Determined to find a way to improve wound care outcomes and practitioners’ careers, Nancy and Donna combined their shared passion for healing by creating hands-on wound care training and structured wound care education classes. The Wound Care Education Institute® mission is to impact the lives of both individual practitioners, and the patients in need of wound care.
