Breast cancer is the first cancer in women with approximately 50,000 new cases per year in France. Standard treatments involve locoregional surgery which main complications are site infection occurring in 8% of cases causing a lack of healing. In many cases it occurs spontaneously or caused by reincision and/or surgical drainage, which is the recommended treatment according to the recommendations of the American Society of Infectious Diseases (1). First-line treatment of wound defect usually involves local care associated with antibiotic therapy. For several years, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has shown its effectiveness in scar dehiscence/defect treatment.
We report the case of a 70-year-old woman successfully treated for a large defect associated with a chronic infection following a total mastectomy.
