Professor Dr. Karen Ousey, University of Huddersfield, UK

Karen is Professor and Director for the Institute of Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention, University of Huddersfield. She is Visiting Professor at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia and the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin.

Karen is elected Chair of the International Wound Infection Institute, Director for ISTAP (Europe), Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, member of the National Wound Care Strategy (NHS England) and member of the All-Parliamentary Committee for Venous and Vascular Disease (UK).

Her research interests focus on skin integrity, infection prevention, management of surgical site complications and improving access to education for all health care professionals and service users.

Professor Dr. Hans Smola, MD, PhD, Germany

Prof. Hans Smola is Professor of Dermatology in the Medical University Cologne, Germany, and Vice President of HARTMANN, a group specialized in offering multiple therapeutic solutions, including products dedicated to wound care.

Hans is a member of the Board of European Tissue Repair Society (ETRS) and of international working groups conducting clinical research and supporting the development of best clinical practices in Wound Management.

As an industry-based clinician for almost 20 years, he is permanently involved in projects translating the basic science to treatment concepts especially in chronic wounds.

Astrid Probst, RN, MSc, Germany

Astrid is an advance nurse practitioner in Kreiskliniken, Reutlingen Hospital, with a strong expertise in wound care. She has a Master in Science in Clinical Skin Integrity and Wound Management from University of Hertfordshire (UK) and is an active practical instructor for clinical procedures in wound care.

Astrid has been a constant member of the international Working Groups developing Guidelines and Consensus Documents to support best practices in wound management and was involved in the professional management of foundation courses for wound experts (ICW) in Germany.

She has numerous publications, and her professional interests cover a wide range of topics such as wound exudate management, infected wounds, pressure ulcer prevention, diabetic foot ulcer, telemedicine use in wound care.
