Introduction

  • Aneurysm of popliteal artery is the most common peripheral aneurysm, at least 70%.
  • Aneurysm of popliteal artery progresses to a stage of clinically significant complications within 5 years in 70% and can cause limb loss in 40% of cases.
  • The most serious complication is acute limb ischemia occurring in about 21% of cases with a risk of limb amputation of over 50%.
  • Popliteal aneurysm increases by approximately 10% per year.
