Summary

Every wound type, either acute or chronic, will have a level of bioburden that has the potential to develop into an infection, subsequently requiring specific management.

Bacteria within a wound exists in either the planktonic or biofilm form and for the most part, treatment involves the use of topical antimicrobials or antibiotics. While much effort has been made to develop effective approaches for biofilm and infected wounds management, the use of antimicrobial agents raises worldwide concerns regarding the potential development of bacteria resistance.

In this webinar the new Position Document on the role of "Non-medicated Wound Dressings in Managing Infected Wounds and Wounds with Biofilms“ will be introduced to healthcare professionals. The speakers will offer updated perspectives on infected wounds, challenges of wounds with biofilm and appropriate therapeutic solutions to eliminate the risk of antimicrobial resistance in wounds.
