Introduction

This webcast brings together a panel of experts to answer your questions on the role of Non-Medicated Wound Dressings (NMWDs) in wound infection. Join Professors Karen Ousey, Hans Smola, Tomasz Banasiewicz and Thomas Bjarnsholt for this expert panel discussion where they will be answering questions from you and other clinicians from across the world.

This webcast follows the launch of the WUWHS Position Document “The role of non-medical dressings for the management of wound infection” and the WUWHS conference.

Some of the questions are:

  • How can we better understand and differentiate what is a “medicated” dressing and what is a “non-medicated” dressing?
  • We hear a lot about wound bioburden and wound biofilm – what is the difference?
  • Is it correct that NMWDs remove the inhibitors of wound healing in the inflammation phase, but they can also be used in wounds with clear signs of infection?
  • Are there any contraindications for using NMWDs?
